HMS Belfast is an historic 9000 ton cruiser, best known for her role during the Second World War in supporting the Allied troops on D Day. After she was decommissioned she was refitted to become part of the Imperial War Museum on a permanent mooring on the Thames near Tower Bridge. Today she welcomes 250,000 visitors a year needing a full-time staff to deal with them. Recently the staff quarters of Belfast have been improved with new shower and toilet facilities. Waste and water have to be pumped to holding tanks and for this work Sanibest macerator pumps were chosen. Opened to the public on Trafalgar day 1971 HMS Belfast joins an illustrious few Naval Vessels saved for the Nation including HMS Victory, Lord Nelson’s flagship at The Battle of Trafalgar and HMS Warrior, the largest, fastest and most powerful ship of her day and pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet. One of the first naval vessels to be powered by steam and sail, the petty officers’ heads were upgraded to provide disabled visitors’ toilets also powered by Sanibest macerator pumps. Sanibest features a high performance motor combined with a powerful macerator action. It is the preferred unit for locations where members of the public, not necessarily familiar with macerator units, may unwittingly subject them to abuse. It is capable of pumping up to 100m horizontally, 6 metres vertically or a lesser combination of both and accepts waste and water from a WC, hand basin, shower and urinal.
